Pharmaceutical Dangers!

So many of us just take the medications that our Doctors prescribe and don't question them. Make a point to also check with your pharmacist to make sure your new med's will work in conjunction with the other medications you are taking. Whether it something you are taking or giving to your children or your parents are taking you can not be to careful! Get on line and research every medication that you and your family take, it make the difference between life and death! I have a family member who was recently in the hospital and put on a blood thinner called Warfarin by her Cardiologist. Her main Doctor called and wanted to know who put her on it and told her she had to immediately stop taking an anti-inflammatory medication she takes due to tragic side effects of the combination of the drugs. The Warfarin was not explained to her in regards to side effects and she has been getting worse and worse over the last month and a half. I picked up her prescription and she read the insert and she was experiencing half of the side effects that the drug causes. Then she was subscribed Cipro for an internal infection she was having. On July 8, 2008 the FDA gave Cipro a black box warning, black box warnings are the strongest warnings that the FDA can place on a product. It is over prescribed and said to be an antibiotic of last resort and only for very specific illnesses.

There is much that we take for granted and we assume that our Doctors and Pharmacist have our back. Well one hand does not always know what the other is doing so if you have more than one Doctor take matters into your own hands. Ask as many questions as possible from these professionals that is what they are there for. Take the time and do the research on all the medications that your family takes and you may very surprised with what you find.

Side note: My family member is now on the way home to go see all of her Doctors to find out what the hell they did to her, and thank god she is alive!!
